A Clinical Nutritionist is a health professional, expert in food, nutrition and dietetics, with the ability to intervene in the diet of a person or group of people, from the following areas of action: nutrition in health, disease managment, disease prevention, and dietary advice relating to the different stages of live and the needs arrising from them.
The main functions are:
Performing nutritional assessments and diagnoses.
Developing customized dietary plans, and propose nutritional support, based on medical diagnosis.
Preparing the diet manual and carry out malnutrition prevention plans.
Working with other healthcare workers to optimize results.
Collaborating with the family environment to optimize adherence to treatment
