Guide for collecting
stool samples for colon cancer screening.
Your stool (faeces) sample
must be put in a clean, preferably sterile, container.
You will be needing 3
containers just for the stool samples.
Each container must be labeled
with your name and date.
The stool samples in the
container must be stored in a sealed plastic bag and kept in the fridge till you can hand all three over to the laboratory
staff.
The stools must not fall in
the water or touch the side of the bowl. Use paper or a plastic (washed) food container that has not contained meat.
The sample should be the size
of an olive. Use a plastic spatula to pick the sample.
Samples should be handed in as
soon as possible.
